eclairs. and rutabaga.
The memories of our time in Paris sneak in to my heart and mind throughout these days, often taking me by surprise and instilling a real true longing to return. Maybe one day we can all pack up and move to Europe, I wonder. I wonder.
I can see the afterglow of the trip in the other two as well, though not in the man-cub (though it will be loads of fun to one day show him all of the fabulous museums, parks and neighborhoods he slept his way through in Paris).
I figured I might be able to partially recreate some of the edible beauty of France in our own kitchen. We’ve made these eclairs twice now, and both times they worked out wonderfully. I took care, the second time ’round, to make sure I piped thin long lines of pastry so the eclairs would be smaller, daintier and somehow a lot more delicious (don’t ask me).
As for the little guy and I, we’re on a strict candida diet. Lots of roasted rutabaga (my favorite recipe is in the little list of links on the sidebar).
Turns out, after many months of searching and trying to get to the bottom of eczema, it’s actually not eczema after all. And not necessarily food allergies. Just looked like that. And felt like that. So leafy greens are in, starches are out, and after a few weeks (for the first time in a VERY long time) I actually don’t crave anything sweet. I never thought it was possible. Have you experienced this or been on food plan like this? If so, how did it go for you?

You made eclairs. Twice. Can I come and live with you? (:

I love your funny juxtaposition… eclairs and… rutabagas? Oh, and I sympathize with you about having a rash-y baby. My little man gets eczema in his upper thighs around the edges of his diaper… And then he has some other rash on his cheeks, arms and thighs… I cannot even remember the name of that kind of rash (our pediatrician refers to it as the blond-kid/white-boy rash.)
And umm… are not not craving sugar because you’re not eating it at all and have got it out of your system? If so, did you not eat any of those eclairs? hmmmm…
