The nights are still freezing here in Ottawa, but the days are warming and the mid-afternoon glow is enough to make the hats and coats off… and real backyard play begin.
When I found some eco friendly, certified Oeko-Tex wool felt recently – I (finally) decided to make the crowns I’ve been planning in in my mind’s eye for ages. Double thick felt they are, with hand stitched wool felt on top, and hand dyed rainbow wool from here all around the edges. Some elastic, tucked into yellow organic cotton velvet around the back so it can fit a child from 2 to 7 years. Two different sets available: the red star crown + orange star wand set, or the pink flower crown + pink and red butterfly set.
We are pairing them, in our shop, with beautiful handmade wooden wands from Erin of Imagination Kids. That neon yellow wool felt I used in the red crown is officially my new favorite felt color. I’ve been thinking about what else I can make in it. Well, neon in general. I think I was too young in the 80s to love neon enough (we’ll go with that
