A Sweet Start
Last night we shared a sweet family meal and lit our tall beeswax tapers to mark the start of Rosh Hashanah, and a new year. Apples sweetened with honey, sweet carrots, round food and lots of full bellies. Tried this rice + quinoa recipe and found it absolutely fabulous. We did it without any cheese, but added tamari – for veggies I cooked up tiny cubed zuchinni, eggplant, onion and broccoli. Also tried an old Moroccan Jewish recipe for Golden Soup, with squash (instead of pumpkin), yellow split peas, ginger, saffron (I added a touch of turmeric) and rich bone broth.
As we start off this new year, and jump right into autumn, I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be formally announcing a swap here next Monday, in one week. With another blog friend most of you already know.
I was busy working on prep for it this weekend, amid ukelele practicing.
See you back here once we’ve taken a few days to soak in the celebrations. Have a great start to your week!
